# Metrics framework
1. Clarify product goals.
2. For each HEART dimension (Happiness, Engagement, Adoption, Retention, Task success), choose goals only where relevant, then **signals** (observable behaviour) and **metrics** (numbers).
3. Define a North Star metric and 3-5 input metrics that drive it.
4. Specify events and properties to track (names, triggers) and dashboards.
5. Set baseline and target placeholders and the review cadence.
Warn against vanity metrics and note which metrics need qualitative follow-up.More Product & Handoff skills
